What is a Responsible Person?

Having a responsible person ensures a suitably qualified and experienced person is physically on the premises at all times that the centre is caring for and educating children.

Dialogue:

The Education and Care Services National Law determines that a Responsible Person must be physically present at a centre-based service at all times that an approved service operates to ensure the health, safety and wellbeing of all children.

A Responsible Person can be either

  • An Approved Provider
  • A Nominated Supervisor
  • An appointed person who is 18 years or older, fit and proper and has suitable skills.
